I cannot remember when I did not take pictures of animals; it is an emotional connection to my heart.
When I decided to take up animal photography; it was because I could not win an argument in my head verses my heart when it came to my passion with animals, …… Fur babies and their owners are such a natural bond – And children with animals, are like peanut butter and jelly……..perfect together.
I began with my own animals of course, horses, dogs, cats, possums, turtles, frogs, cows, snakes…..you name it.

I worked for years and still do work with animal shelters on a volunteer basis to assist taking good photos that will help the animals get adopted as quickly as possible.
What I found was three things: 1) always have your camera in ready mode, 2) if I waited long I usually got incredible pictures, and 3) if you spend time to be around an animal in its own environment to learn the animals personality/disposition/quirks etc., you would find what I call the “owners love spot” when it came to their pets. Even if the owner is God – as in wildlife. Capturing the soul of an animal is one the most heartwarming experiences I know.
My goal is to identify that magic spot – a look or a movement, and make lasting images for the owners to have in those photos to keep as a memories forever.
Let me say up front, I do not digitally alter any photo I take whether it be inside or out. I am not terribly fond of studio staging – but will work with a client if that is a preference. I like it natural. What I see through the lens it what you get!
